Das Naturschutzgebiet in Frankfurt, eine seltene Binnendüne, liegt zwischen Schwanheim und Höchst. Nicht nur ist es ein Naherholungsgebiet, sondern bietet auch durch seinen trockenen Sand und das dortige Klima einer Vielzahl seltener Tiere und Pflanzen Raum.
Die nächste Wander- bzw. Binnendüne befindet sich zwischen Mainz und Ingelheim: Der sogen. Mainzer Sand. Das dortige Gebiet ist allerdings wesentlich größer als die Schwanheimer Düne.
